Understanding
Cross-Site IP

SiteHUB‘s Cross-Site IP is a powerful network solution designed to simplify connectivity across multiple data centers or geographic locations, especially in cases where you do not control the network yet still want granular network management and access. This feature provides a unified, consistent IP addressing scheme for your infrastructure behind a secure tunnel streamlining deployments and enhancing both reliability and performance.

What Is Cross-Site IP?

Cross-Site IP is a private WireGuard-powered network that assigns each VPS a unique internal IP address—regardless of its physical location or native connectivity. This unified private network allows seamless communication across multiple servers, even if some are behind NAT or have no native IPv4 support.
It’s especially useful for:

  • Clients using NAT services with shared public IPs
  • Servers that are IPv6-only and lack native IPv4 access

At its core, Cross-Site IP extends your network across all your VPS instances, creating a secure and consistent layer for inter-server communication. Whether your instance is NAT-based or IPv6-only, it becomes part of a cohesive private environment.

Key benefits include:

  • IPv4 Connectivity for IPv6-Only Servers
    Built-in NAT64 + DNS64 ensures IPv6-only servers can access IPv4 websites, applications, and services transparently—over a secure, DDoS-protected WireGuard tunnel.
  • Simplified Access Across Devices
With the WireGuard client installed on your local machine, you can directly reach any of your NAT or IPv6-only servers via their assigned Cross-Site IP, regardless of their native public IP situation.
  • Private Backend Networking
Use Cross-Site IP to establish internal-only communication between backend services like databases or admin panels—without exposing them to the public Internet. This adds both security and control, especially for NAT-only deployments.

Cross-Site IP brings your infrastructure together—securely linking NAT-based, IPv6-only, and traditionally connected servers into a single, privately routed network. Whether you’re building distributed applications, isolating sensitive services, or simply enhancing access and visibility, Cross-Site IP gives you the flexibility and security to do it right.

Use Cases

local-area-network (1)

NAT Services:

Ideal for clients using NAT services with a shared public IP, ensuring seamless connectivity and streamlined management across various nodes

ip-address

IPv6 Only

Acts as a bridge for IPv6-only VPS environments that lack native IPv6 access, enhancing connectivity and network reliability

global-networking

Multi-Site Connectivity

Enables businesses to manage services across multiple locations under a single IP umbrella, simplifying network configurations and ensuring continuous service via effective load balancing and failover

NAT Storage & Database Solutions:

Perfect for NAT storage servers, the Cross-Site IP provides an extra layer of security by transferring storage data via the secure tunnel rather than exposing it on public IPv4 or shared public IPv4 addresses. Likewise, it is an excellent solution for databases running behind NAT that need to securely connect to a public front end
